My fellow patriots.
I am so honored to be able to speak with you today in our nation’s capital. I’m proud to count myself among such amazing Americans willing to stand up for what is right and just. You are the embodiment of what it means to be an American Patriot.
Today is a day of remembrance. Many of us can recount exactly where we were twelve years ago when we were viciously attacked by Islamic Jihadists; I certainly remember where I was. I had just finished training for a competition in high school and as I walked into my English class, I noticed everyone’s eyes were glued to the television that was turned on; unusual since we never watched TV in that class. As I turned to view the screen, I watched in horror as the second plan hit the second tower. It was at this moment I knew that I would be joining the military. That one moment changed my life forever.
This day also holds special significance for me because it was the day I was given my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. I was among the first group of Marines to earn the title on September 11th after the attacks occurred.
Some of you may be wondering where I am going with this, and it all boils down to this day of September 11th. One year ago today we were again attacked by Muslim terrorists in Libya. You see, as a Marine I was always taught that we never leave a man behind. We go to whatever lengths we must to help our citizens and our brothers when they are in harm’s way. The Marine Corps history is full of legends of the courageous lengths Marines would go in order to retrieve a wounded comrade, or sacrifice their own lives to save their brothers. Our current government doesn’t seem to understand this concept of leaving no one behind.
This administration is full of cowards. This congress is full of cowards. They do not understand the principle of leaving no one behind, because they left the four men in Benghazi behind, and had it not been for swift actions of two brave Navy SEALs, it would likely have been more. In total, there were around thirty Americans left to die as our consulate was attacked.
When we the people have demanded answers, we were met with silence. When persons in this administration were questioned about Benghazi, we got nothing but excuses, lies, and the blaming YouTube videos. This Congress has accepted the answers given by the administration, even though nothing was done. No one has taken responsibility! The only thing that has come out of the “investigation” is confirming there were lies and cover ups, but no one has done anything about the State Department’s denial of additional security or the lies told before the American people by our own president.
The Speaker of the House, John Boehner is even blocking our requests for a select committee to further the investigation, in spite of the few members of the House who aren’t acting cowardly and listening to the people.
Our current Secretary of State, John Kerry, thinks that there are more important things than getting to the bottom of four American lives being lost needlessly, brutality murdered as people in the White House stood by and watched it happen.
Our own President and his press secretary think that this event is nothing more than a phony scandal or some bumps in the road. They cannot see that it involved the deaths of our citizens, and we are asking not for political reasons, but because they are our countrymen who died.
We are all here today for different reasons. I am here because I cannot stand the cowardice and injustice the men and women that work right behind me, and throughout this city, have given the American people and it goes far beyond the attack in Benghazi. These cowards are actively seeking to destroy the very fabric of our nation.
I could spend an entire week speaking about the infractions against our people and way of life and it would just be the tip of the iceberg. To put it plainly, nearly every man and woman who works here in this capital has either forgotten their oaths, or never intended to keep that sacred oath in the first place.
They have forgotten or ignored that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. They ignore our individual liberties, and push more laws and regulations down our throats, cutting the American people down. What ever happened to the “pursuit of happiness” in our Declaration of Independence? It does not say that we are subject to only what our benevolent government shall allow. It is time to stop this insanity and fight back against the cowards hiding behind their legislative pens.
To cite our Declaration of Independence:
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
We have the chance right now to change our government, although we still have the opportunity to change it without the use of arms as our Founders were forced. In a book I wrote, I spoke of one of the first things we must do to change our government is to again declare ourselves independent. But I am not asking you to rebel against the constitution, or the type of government we have. I am asking you to stop listening to the two parties, Republicans and Democrats, who have been slowly destroying our nation over the last century. It’s time to stop voting along party lines and seek out the candidates that are going to put our nation first.
Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying, “We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” That is what I am asking you to do.
It should not matter what party the candidate is affiliated. What matters is character; what matters are principles. Our very first president, George Washington, warned us in his Farewell Address about the dangers of political parties, and we see his warning has gone unheeded, and we can now see the results.
The Father of our nation said “The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.”
“Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.”
“It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”
It is no longer the good of the people these parties consider, but how they can best remain in power. We are the only thing that can stop this.
We can no longer fully trust the Republican or Democrat parties as a whole. There have been some good candidates and representatives who have come from the parties, but as a whole, every single piece of negative legislation has come from one or both of these two parties. They have pit us against each other, dividing a nation that must stand as one.
I have come here today to ask you to help me in taking responsibility for our country’s future. To stand up with me and tell those in power that we have had enough. We will no longer be silent. We will no longer accept the blame games, the finger pointing, or excuses from politicians.
As part of you declaring yourself independent of these two parties, I ask that you stop donating money to either of them. If there is a candidate you support, use your money to go directly to their campaign, but not the party they are associated with, otherwise your money will go to funding the campaigns of men like Senators McCain, Graham, and Hatch, who have constantly voted for bigger government and call for crossing the aisle into territory that betrays the American people.
Just look at what the establishment of the Republican Party has done in the last few years. They have compromised American values, they have spent billions of our tax dollars wastefully, they have participated in the passing of the indefinite detention of the National Defense Authorization Act, TARP, the USA Patriot Act, SCHIP, Medicaid expansions, several have sided with aiding Muslim extremists with arms, just to name a few. They have even sided with gun control legislation and granting amnesty for illegal immigrants in recent months. I don’t think I need to even go over what Democrats have done, because I haven’t seen anything good from that party in a long time.
It is time we had leaders who will stand to the principles that make America great. And the only way we are going to save this nation is if we are willing to act now. We have to start removing every progressive in DC regardless of the D or R attached to their names. We also need men and women of different trades.
How many doctors in Congress voted for Obamacare? How many criminologists in Congress have voted on gun legislation? How many pastors have been present to look at legislation that limits our religious freedom? How many farmers have been there to vote on food issues? Where are the men and women who know the real impact of the types of legislation that are passed in the halls of Congress daily?
The answer to all of the above is few to none. This capitol building has been filled with mostly lawyers and Wall Street type businessmen. People with reputations for being liars and thieves. There are reasons why there are so many lawyer jokes. There are reasons why there is a large mistrust in bigger business. They earned their reputation with deceit.
2014 is going to be our first chance to start refounding America. There are a lot of Democratic seats up for grabs in the Senate. We can take them if we can get true conservative men and women on the stage willing to take the fight to Washington. There are progressive Republicans with their seats up for grabs as well. If we stand up to the establishment, we can bring about what happened in 2010 over again. We can have more Mike Lee and Ted Cruz upsets to the establishment. All we have to do is vote our hearts and vote our consciences.
President Obama said that 2014 we will see Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House again. Are we going to stand by and allow that to happen?
Are we going to allow what happened with the passage of Obamacare, that a Speaker will ask the Congress to pass a bill in order to find out what is in it?
Are we going to withdraw as if none of this is our concern? Or will we fight?
You know, if America will adhere to and uphold its rule of law, which is the U.S. Constitution, then Communists, Socialists and Islam’s Sharia Law would hold no sway over our beloved nation. The Constitution is a protection against rogue government, despots, and radical religions who would remove our most precious eternal gift, the freedom to choose.
Remember, very little of the world lives under the principles of liberty and freedom and we should not so willingly turn away from that. Men and women are dying in faraway lands in defense of our freedom and liberty. Do not forsake their sacrifice, but stand up and be worthy of it.
I ask you to look deep into your heart and soul. I ask all Americans to plant their feet and scream out in 2014 that we will not be pushed anymore! We will not allow for bills to be passed without even reading them! We will not allow our elected representatives to forget their oaths!
I, along with thousands of veterans, took a very similar oath. That oath you swear before God states that you will support and defend the Constitution of the United States. It does not say that we will only support what is convenient. It does not say we can use our own interpretations to squeeze out words from thin air. The oath is clear, the Constitution is clear, and most of the men and women in this capitol are in direct violation of that oath.
To quote a modern day warrior for liberty, Senator Rand Paul, “It is not enough to say ‘I don’t intend to break the Constitution.’ You either believe in it or you don’t.” There are so few that can remember that.
If we can take a significant majority in this 2014 election, we can have the man power to have violators, including this President, removed from office. Our Constitution allows us to remove even members of Congress if we can get enough of a majority. We can use our power as a people to force the usurpers from their altars. Will you help knock them off their pedestals?
We must build and work harder than we ever have before. If all of us work together, putting aside the labels given us by the national media and political groups, and focus only on the restoration of our great republic, we will see our nation begin to grow again. But it starts with you. It starts with your commitment.
I adopted a motto several years ago, and it has become my life’s creed: Numquam cede, Libertatem aut Mors which means never surrender, Liberty or death. This is the attitude that each and every one of us must have to preserve the freedoms our Constitution declares. You see, no document, no government agency, no military, and no politician is going to necessarily protect your rights. You have to protect them.
It is not just our rights today that are at stake either, we have to rise for the future and out of respect for our past.
Time and time again the American people have had their resolve tested by forms of tyranny. Whether it has been Hitler’s Reich or Al Qaeda’s terror, we have been faced with daunting challenges that would shake a weaker people’s resolve. America is unique in that regard. We the people do not go quietly into the night.
When the British came to collect the weapons from the armories of Lexington and Concord, ordinary citizens said no, and stood to face the most advanced and well trained military of the day. When we were attacked in Pearl Harbor, and most of our fleet sank, we did not talk of surrender to the Japanese; we fought back and won. When we were attacked on this fateful day twelve years ago, we banded together and donated blood or enlisted in the military to take the fight straight to the enemies of liberty.
This fight is no different, and that blood of the American patriot flows through each of our veins. We have the same resolve as the men at Valley Forge. We have the same tenacity as the Marines on Guadalcanal. We have the same iron grit as the men at Chosin Reservoir. We are a nation of people who are willing to volunteer our lives, and give them for liberty if necessary.
We must find that spark of liberty and ignite the torch among our friends and families. It took nearly one hundred years to bring about the progressive agenda we see today, and we must be willing to give that hundred years and more to give our children and grandchildren the same hope we were born with. We must pass the torch! Light the flame inside of you!
When you feel stressed out, or hearing that little voice inside your head saying you are only one person, remember this day. Look around you at the patriots willing to stand beside you. There are those willing to stand, so you are not alone. And in the darkest moments, when you are in despair, do as our first Commander in Chief did: fall upon your knees and look to the Heavens. Because God is always with you. You are never alone. You are never just one voice.
Before you leave the capitol, I would ask you to do something for me, and I know it will help you remember everything we are fighting for. First, I want you to look up at the American flag flying above us. Reflect upon its meaning and the values it represents. The red stripes representing the valor and blood shed on our behalf. The white, for the purity of liberty’s ideals. And the blue shield, for justice for all people.
I also would ask you to visit the various memorials to our nation’s heroes. The Iwo Jima memorial, the Vietnam memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Remember their sacrifices for us to be here today, exercising our right to peacefully assemble. Honor them with a personal oath of your own, that you will defend our Constitution no matter the cost, because they did it for you.
To quote one more time “THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. Not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.” –Thomas Paine
We also have four more heroes to honor today. And to honor their memory, we must never allow such inactions from our government to happen again. Since our government will not be accountable, we must be the ones to hold them accountable. Remember their names. Let our government know we have not forgotten their betrayal.
We will not forget Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, or Tyrone Woods. We have not forgotten the sacrifice of countless and priceless lives of our military. We have not forgotten our Founding Fathers. We will hold true to the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. We will fight for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Remember, a patriot is not someone who will not only die for their beliefs, but one who will live every day for them.
In closing, our Pledge of Allegiance states “with liberty and justice for all.” And justice will be done. We the People will be heard. I ask you to stand with me, stand for our nation. Semper Fidelis and let’s restore America.
