fourthamendmentI am beyond words at how bad things have gotten in the government lately.  This latest break in what the current administration is doing is directly going against our fourth amendment rights.

Before I go to much further into discussion on my feelings about the NSA being used to collect data on the American public, let me cite for you the fourth amendment of our Bill of Rights:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

This amendment is plain English: It is OUR RIGHT to be secure in every aspect of our lives against unreasonable searches and seizures. If you are not suspected of a crime, there is no probable cause, therefore no warrant can be issued. This is a violation of our civil liberties.  Members of the government see it otherwise, and it disgusts me.

I don’t care who started the program, what law was passed to make it “legal,” or what administration it started under.  The fact is this current government is breaking the law in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches.  They all swore an oath to protect the Constitution, and they are violating it by defending these proposals.

I also will not accept any promises from a corrupt government that this is only used to combat terrorism, and we should just trust them. Why the hell should I trust them? They target us with the IRS. They monitor our communications.  They try to take away our second amendment rights.  They have declared certain areas in our nation’s capital as no free speech zones.  You tell me one of our rights they haven’t violated.

I cannot accept the excuse of monitoring cell phones as a reasonable course to combat terrorism either. In criminal operations and terrorist activity, if a cell phone is used, they are not a a “Family Plan.”  They use what are called burn phones. Disposable, untraceable, cell phones that they can get rid of.  I experienced this in Iraq facing road side bombers.  If you think I am lying, go look it up.  You don’t keep something that can be tied back to you if you are committing a crime, especially as a terrorist.

I also don’t want to hear the public saying that “well, I’m not criminal or a terrorist, so why should I care if they monitor me.”  Because it is your right to be secure! Also look at the fact that they get to define what crime is, they get to define what constitutes a terrorist!  They hold the key to changing the definition!

Maybe this administration will only collect. But what about the next one? The one after that?  If we give up even one of our civil liberties, we will lose them all.  The Declaration of Independence states that we have unalienable rights.  Not what our government will allow us to do or say.  We need to stand up.

I am working hard every day to change the way things are done.  I cannot do this alone.  I need to have America join in and fight back.  This is what our Founding Fathers were protecting us from!  This is why they fought!  We disgrace them if we just roll over and accept this.

I am tasking every single person who reads this to write and call each of their representatives (Congressmen and Senators) and get them on the record on their stance.  If they support breaking down our civil liberties, out them publicly in every news outlet you can.  If the news won’t out them, send it to me and I will.

Email their responses to your family, your friends, your co-workers, your neighbors, and get them the hell out of office, because they do not belong there!  Then find a candidate that will stand up for the people and the Constitution of this nation.

I am tired of this encroachment into the people’s lives.  I got so fed up I decided to run myself, and if that fails to turn the tide, then we are left with only one option.  Either we get people in that will do the job right, or the government will cross a line there is no turning back and we will face 1776 again.  Will we be able to succeed this time?  Who knows.  The apathy I am seeing would incline me to think that we may not win this time.  Will you stand now?  Before it’s too late?

Call and write immediately.  Please.  Take action.

  1. You did ask to write to your congress? These are the people that did authorize this tyranny to go on. Do you still believe that we actually live in a representative democracy? You need to upgrade your concept of tyrannical government.

    1. I don’t need to upgrade my definition. We need to be vocal and public in our opposition to these sorts of policies. We need to demand they end this and uphold their oaths. Make our signatures the size of John Hancock. It’s time we stop fearing them and make them fear us. We are not their servants subject to their whims. The are our servants and it’s time we reminded them of their place.
