Being a divorced dad can be one of the hardest things a man can face in his life. When I found out I was going to be a father of my first child, I was ecstatic. I always wanted to be a dad. Years down the road, I unfortunately faced what many in America face: divorce.

Luckily, I was married to a reasonable woman, so she and I share custody of our two sons.

Caleb and Conner are two of the most amazing things that happened to me in my life and I thank God every day for them being in this life of mine.

My time with them the last few days have been awesome. Between the park, coloring, legos, and games we play, it has been very fulfilling. Their laughter and smiles bring me true joy.

One of the funnest games we play is what I call Tickle Spiders. It basically involves my hands being the spiders and my boys try to sqish them before they “bite” them. Something so simple, but gets them every time.

I have never been really well off, so games like this are what we have. I wouldn’t trade it for all the money in the world. The time with them is priceless.

I miss them so much while they are gone. Pray this week goes quickly.

  1. Don’t worry Dad, those little guys will always be your special companions and buddies. And don’t worry about not having a lot of money either…they’ll remember the games you played with them far, far longer than any purchased amusements that you took them to. You ARE writing those things the world needs to hear so you’re doing your job and your sons will respect you for this for all of their lives.
